this is a great looking sword and based on the sword alone it was good. Mine got damaged in shipping because the box it was shipped in was too small, so the hilt end is "rubbed" and the blade is very difficult to get out of the scabbard. I hope that they can fix this for me. If they can, then i'd change this to a 5 star. :)

One of the strongest blades I won that isn't truly Damascus steel, but is very close to the strength of such. This blade has a good weight to it, which makes it very easy to cut through many things given it has a sharp edge, which mine does. The design and construction are marvelous and I would definitely give this blade some consideration if you are looking for a good sword.

For the price I don't think you can get a better Samurai sword. Normally I collect fantasy swords or medieval time swords but I do have a few katana's and this one is great. While its not my best one for the price, its of great quality. It is sharp so it should not be played with as someone can get seriously injured but that should be common knowledge when dealing with swords. And this is a real sword.

I own and have used several live blades. This one is of better construction than all but one, which cost me $1000. The blade is almost full tang and well secured with two pins. The blade is well designed with a nice long fuller and comes semi-sharp. It took little time, however, to get it sharp enough to cut hairs. I have not done any Tameshigiri with it yet but have full confidence.

I usualy love cold steel knives. This katana arrived a bit sub standard. There are rust spots about 2 inches long on the face of the blade. Also on the spine at about the center point on the blade there is a 3 inch rust spot. Most of the length of the blade was dull except for the tip. It appears as if the katana had been stored for a very long time or handled much before it was sold to me. I will however keep it and attempt to buff out the rust then sharpen.

I was worried about the authenticity of the product as it is far cheaper than on the official musashi website and that in the pictures there is no "musashi" inscription on the gold colored metal piece above the guard. I got the free two day shipping and it promptly arrived. I was more than pleased when I took it out of the box. It was far more sturdy than i had expected and looked far better than in any picture. It did in fact come with a certificate of authenticity. I am very very satisfied with the purchase. criticisms - the piece that is supposed to have the musashi stamp does in fact have the stamp but doesn't fit, it wobbles around all the time. I'm unsure about the small oil colored lines that run throughout the blade, can't seem to wash them off but polishing may take care of that, however it may be just what the steel is supposed to look like (never owned this type of steel blade). It wasn't really that sharp at all, couldn't even cut into paper. Had to sharpen it myself and since i'm inexperienced I left some pretty gnarly scratches. It scratches extremely easily but i guess thats inevitable with something that is being used to cut things. If you want it for a display piece don't use it

wellll, it's not perfect. they never are. i do not expect perfection for 320 bux. the blade has 2 or 3 small blemishes, little scratches or marks. not a big deal. if i use it a few times, i will do worse. for the most part, it looks like it has never been used. quite happy with this purchase.this is the 2nd smallest of the set. the spring sakura is the smallest(and my favorite), the other two are pretty beastly, and unwieldy. i have not bent any of them yet, and they clean up pretty easily (stay off the mirror finish part when rubbing, i accidentally dulled a few inches of mine on one of the other swords). behold, the whole dragon king 4 seasons set...

Alright.. As a outdoor survivalist/hunter I've had the pleasure of trying many different kinds of blades of all kinds. This particular sword has impressed alot so far. The wrapping is tight, the blade is sharp and the quality of steel is outstanding. My first attempt at a cut was a milk jug I had filled with water... Thinking I needed a fast strong cut I swung fairly hard only to think I had missed. The blade cut so smooth through the bottle (starting at the handle) I didn't even feel it connect with the bottle. Not sure if its luck but the first cut I did left no water on the blade, I thought that was pretty cool. I've handled many katanas and blades and ill tell you this one has an intimidation factor. Even if you are familiar with swords be mindful this one has a slightly different shape than traditional katanas. This is NOT A TOY. I'm very pleased and recommend this for collectors and someone looking for a SOLID beginner battle ready weapon. After several tests with meat/bone believe this to be an excellent choice for defense. I live in the mountains where there are wolves and mountain lions and I feel confident this would put an aggressive animal down easily. The handling is a bit blade heavy but the handle is long enough to have a comfortable swing with alot of blade side leverage to cleave with ease. Again, highly recommended.

Full tang Authentic everything including beautiful hamon! I would recommend this blade to anyone looking for a cheap but well made and truly battle ready. I have put this blade through hell and back and it still looks amazing. However I have polished and sharpened along the way I have had this blade for about a year now and it is my favorite. This blade could match just about anything you see a warrior class cold steel katana do. the only thing better than this blade is one that has been deferentially hardened for authenticity but as durability is concerned for most people mono steel is fine, when made of high carbon steel.

I purchased this along with several other swords. Bottomline: you can really hurt someone or yourself with this weapon. However, if you plan on doing some sword battle with a couple of Samurai...you will definitely need either a better sword, or a 30 yard head start. But do not believe reviews that criticize this sword and it's sharpness or capabilities to do harm. It's sharp enough and will give even a novice an opportunity to train with something decent. The sword is oilde not too light not too thick, its edge is not as sharp as it could be but is still battle ready, I'd suggest getting a wet stone to sharpen. The steel is a modern way of recreating Damascus steel so it is Damascus steel in a way. The sword is pretty well balanced and its only flaw is the handle isn't as pretty but with looking at it more thoroughly its very sturdy. No katana is meant for cutting tree limbs as no sword should be used as such, the metal is long so it will bend if hit against something its not meant for. Although bamboo is tougher its also hollow. I love this weapon. It maybe lighter than wood, but it is far more durable. I also like its lightness because it can used with speed. I plan to get a second one to have a matching pair. I have 2 Wooden Wakazashi Bokken and 1 Wooden Tanto Bokken, and all three are stored because they get chipped and start to split. I will only use Cold Steel Trainers from now on. The Cold Steel trainers don't have the distracting vibration that wood creates hitting a target. Lastly, a well placed strike with a Cold Steel trainer can be just as brutal as a Wooden Bokken strike.

I am very impressed with this sword. The craftsmanship on the handle and hilt are very strong. It came sharpened, but not super sharp, it does come with a layer of grease to prevent rusting, Which is white. The entire construction is sturdy and has a great feel to it.
